Colonsay Nesmith Carioca Gin Cocktail
Once again we thank our 'resident' mixologist Anthony @cocktails_for_breakfast for this fabulous creation.
The Colonsay Nesmith Carioca Gin cocktail was first created by filmmaker Rob Christopher in 2014. Rob named this in tribute to musician Michael Nesmith and his 1979 song Carioca.
Rob created this with one of his favourite gins, so we’ve done the same and used our Colonsay Gin - Tonn Mor which is a bold, punchy, dry, and, of course, juniper-forward Navy Strength gin. With lime, pineapple, honey and bitters, this is a delicious gin-based Tiki sipper.
Method and ingredients below:
30ml Pineapple Juice
15ml Lime Juice
7.5ml Honey Syrup
1 dash Angostura Bitters
Shake all ingredients with ice until well chilled, then fine strain into a chilled cocktail glass, like the vintage sherry glass we've used - it was exactly the right size for the volume of liquid - plus a touch of pineapple foam (product of shaking all ingredients together). We’ve garnished with pineapple - obviously! - and possibly rather excessively for the size of my glass, but it just looks right somehow!
We think this is one of Ant's most elegant and visually stunning cocktails to date, it tastes amazing too! What do you think of it? Why not send us some pics of your home mixology! Tag us on Instagram @colonsaygin
